AMERICAN UNIVERSITY - This year’s WingBowl returns with more prizes, activities and wings than ever. On April 25th at 1PM WingBowl competitors will compete in an intense timed race on the main quad to eat as many chicken wings as they can. SigEp will run the event for the fifth consecutive year and attempt to raise their goal of $1000 dollars for their philanthropy, YouthAIDS. “The Wing Bowl not only provides a great competition for AU students, it gives us the opportunity to raise thousands of dollars for YouthAids,” said SigEp President Dan Saavedra, “for that, we could not be prouder”. Teams pay a 10$ sign-up fee that directly supports the YouthAIDS charity. The top three teams will receive trophies and gift certificates in a post-competition ceremony on the main quad. With each round the intensity of the buffalo sauce will increase and teams will challenge themselves to claim the WingBowl Championship. For those not up to that challenge, other side-games and activities will be planned. “This year we’re expanding beyond the wings,” said SigEp Vice President of Programming Jared Alves, “more side games, a chicken dance competition, and yes, a man in a chicken suit.” Local businesses Angelico and The Dancing Crab have agreed to co-sponsor the event and will provide funding for the day’s events. Interested sponsors for the event should contact Vice President of Communication Paul Lopreiato for more information.
